Charles H. Brosious Dies at Age of 75
Charles H. Brosious, 75, a native of Dalmatia but an almost life-long resident of Sunbury, died in Community Hospital at 8 o’clock this morning after a lingering illness with complications. He had been a patient since Wednesday. Mr. Brosious had been in failing health for several years.
He was born in Dalmatia March 4, 1878, a son of the late Isaac and Elizabeth Weaver Brosious. He moved to Sunbury with his family at an early age and lived the major portion of his life in this city. For the past three years he made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Oyster, Rockefeller Township. Mr. Brosious was a retired employee of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. He was a member of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church, this city. He was married three times, and his wives Katie Foye, Bertha Kramer Garinger, and Lucy Rupp, all preceded him in death.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Lee Oyster, Sunbury R.D. No. 1; Clyde Brosious, this city; Mrs. Lyle Myers, Greencastle, and Miss Anna Brosious, Spring City; four step-children, Albert Garinger, Mrs. Albert Metzger, Kenneth Rupp, and Mrs. Sarah Schaffner, all of this city; five brothers, Arthur and Forrest Brosious, Sunbury R. D. No. 3; LeRoy Brosious, this city, William Brosious, Northumberland, and Emory Brosious, Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Raker, Sunbury R. D. No. 2, Mrs. Lizzie Wolf, Sunbury R.D. No. 1, and Mrs. C. B. Brosious, this city.
Twenty grand-children, including George Oyster, this city, just returned from Army service in Korea, and Charles Oyster, this city, serving with the U. S. Army in Germany, and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wirt Funeral Home, Cliftmont, with Rev. E. W. Bean, Pastor of the Mennonite Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Lantz cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime after 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon.”
