Evan John, son of Llewelyn and Mary Ann [David] Thomas was born in Cardiff Wales (Kenfig Hill, Glamorgan,-Wales, on 12 Jun 1890. Note birth date differs from grave stone. At the age of 59, he died at 1102 Harding Drive, Llanerch Hills, Upper Darby, Delaware County, PA, on 13 May 1950.
Evan immigrated to the United States in 1912, and achieved naturalized citizenship in 1914. He departed Liverpool, England, on the SS Cameronia on 24th January 1912, and arriving at Ellis Island on Feb 4, 1912.
On 21 Oct 1912 when Evan John was 22, he married Bessie Ferris DAW, age 19, daughter of Frederick (1854-1916) & Margaret [DAVID] (1854-1936) DAW, in Miners Mills, Luzerne County, PA.
They had the following children:
i. Mary Margaret THOMAS (1914-1979)
ii. Thelma F THOMAS (1918-1973)
iii. Catherine Daw THOMAS (1920-1987)
iv. Betty THOMAS (~1925-)
v. Gloria Swanson THOMAS (1926-1977)
Note: Their first born child, Mary Margaret [Thomas] Hughes was buried in the adjoining grave 4; unmarked.
