J. A. Phillips, 64, Ill Two Years, Dies

Julius Augustus Phillips, 64, of Plum Creek, died Saturday at 1 p. m. in Geisinger Memorial Hospital, Danville, where he had been a patient for one week. In ill health for the last two years, he had been hospitalized on several occasions.

For many years he operated a dairy farm at Plum Creek, retiring in 1952. He was also employed as a sales representative by M. C. Bonawitz, Selinsgrove farm implement dealer. He was born April 5, 1893, in Upper Augusta Township the son of the late John and Lizzie Bordner Phillips. He was a member of Eden Lutheran Church, Plum Creek. Mr. Phillips was an active member of the Rockefeller Grange and also served as treasurer of the organization.

Surviving are his wife, Ada Hornberger Phillips; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Bartholomew, Plum Creek; Mrs. Albert Reedy, Sunbury R. D. 1; Mrs. Marlin Brosious, Sunbury; a son, Julius A. Phillips, Jr., Sunbury; 14 grandchildren, two brothers, Boyd Phillips, Shamokin Dam, and John E. Phillips, Oaklyn; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lenker, Oaklyn, and Mrs. Richard Altvater, Baltimore, Md.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p. m. from the Wirt funeral home at Cliftmont with Rev. Earl W. Zellers, Sunbury R. D. 3, officiating. Burial will be in Eden Lutheran Church cemetery received at the funeral home Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Ada M. Phillips

SUNBURY - Mrs. Ada M. Phillips, 88, formerly of 705 Market St., died yesterday morning in the Gold Star Nursing Home, Danville.

Born in Rockefeller Township, July 16, 1895, she was a daughter of late Irvin and Amelia Wolfe Hornberger. Her husband, Julius A. Phillips, died in 1957. She was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Sunbury RD 4; Rockefeller Grange, Sunbury RD 4; and the Sunbury Senior Action Center.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by four children, Mrs. Anna M. Bartholomew, Mrs. Amelia I. Reedy and Mrs. Dorothy E. Brosious, all of Sunbury, and Julius A. of Sunbury; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, Sunbury, by the Rev Vitolds Gobins. Burial will be in the Eden Lutheran Cemetery, Sunbury RD3.

Friends may call in the funeral home tomorrow evening.
