World War II
Ray served as a Staff Sergeant, Company A, 338th Infantry Regiment, 85th Infantry Division during World War II.
He resided in Johnsonburg, Elk County, Pennsylvania prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on May 2, 1942 in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of paper and pulp and also as Single, without dependents.
Ray was "Killed in Action" in Italy during the war.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.
