Paul H. Kerstetter, 80, Sunbury

SUNBURY _ Paul H. Kerstetter, 80, of 438 N. fourth St., died late Monday afternoon [Nov 23, 1998] at ManorCare Services.
He was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Sunbury, a son of the late Henry A. and Bessie (Noaker) Kerstetter. On July 15, 1939, he married the former Martha E. Reigle.
Mr. Kerstetter was a 1936 graduate of Sunbury High School. He retired Oct. 10, 1978, after 36 years as a freight conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a 50-year member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury. Mr. Kerstetter was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 267 and the East End Hose Company, both of Sunbury; 50-year member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen; and a member of the Sunbury Social Club. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, surviving are one son and daughter-in-law Rex A. and Cynthia of Middleburg; two grandsons and their wives, Brian and Tammy and Bret and Donna; four great-grand children, Mindy, Seth, Tylar and Carter; two stepgreat grandchildren, Levi and Betsy Mosier; three sisters, Thelma I. Swope of Sunbury, Anna Hafer of Lewisburg and Alice Longenberger and her husband, Robert of Shamokin dam; nieces, nephews; and one sister-in-law Doris Reigle of Shamokin Dam.
He was preceded in death by one infant brother, Fred.
Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, Second and King Streets, Northumberland, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Apple Chapel of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday [Nov 28, 1998] at the chapel by the Rev. Richard Fangmann.
Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury. Contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Fifth and Market Streets, Sunbury, PA 17801.
