Captain in the Westmoreland Co. Militia (PA) during the Revolutionary War.
Thoms Moore was married to Rachel Phillis Moore, daughter of Joseph Phillis, Sr., who was born in Leedsdale, England and resided in Burgesstown, Washington Co.
Rachel and Thomas owned 500 acres of land about 3 miles southeast of Hookstown. After Joseph Phillis' wife passed away, he came from the Burgesstown area to live with his daughter and son-in-law in Hookstown.

According to family tradition, Joseph Phillis Sr. and his daughter Rachel Phillis Moore are buried next to her husband, Thomas Moore. There are no stones for Joseph or Rachel; however there is a stone for Thomas.
