OBITUARY:

He married Elizabeth Jane Worrall and fathered Lavadore (b. ABT, 1843), Samuel (b. ABT1845), Sarah (b. ABT1848), Jacob N. (b. ABT1850, and Elizabeth (b.ABT1856). In 1860, he was a farmer living with his family in Beale Township, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 10" tall with dark hair and blue eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Juniata County September 1, 1862, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg September 18 as a private with Co. F, 16th Pennsylvania Cavalry (161st Pa). He was promoted to corporal November 5, 1862, to sergeant April 1, 1864, and on January 1, 1865, to a staff position as veterinary surgeon. He honorably discharged by general order June 17, 1865, at Lynchburg, Virginia.

Elizabeth died on November 17, 1864, and he married Lavinia Geedy July 31, 1866, at Mifflintown, Juniata County, fathering Lavinia (b. 09/18/70). In his pension file, one man testified that Lemon was habitually drunk while another witness insisted he was a "temperate" man. Cause of death was "renal dropsy."
